Dear Parents, Pageant Directors, Contestants and Supporters,

I would like to begin by thanking all of you in joining us with our endeavor to educate such a wonderful group of young ladies and women.  PageantDoc is a dream I had envisioned for quite some time but I needed to be fully educated and trained before pursuing this.  With the knowledge and experience I have now achieved, I feel both blessed and passionate about this than ever before.   Having been in your shoes...I mean "heels" as a pageant contestant, I know your concerns firsthand.  Pageantry is absolutely amazing and I love it!  I am who I am because of the positive experiences I have gained from it and a few negative ones too.

But as a physician, I do have the responsibility of not only treating people but educating them as well.  Over the years, we have diligently tried as a society to educate our youth about mental illness through schools, counseling centers, etc.  but the numbers are still very high.  As a psychiatrist, I know the statistics and they are extremely disheartening.  Some are also my patients and believe it or not, I would like to see less not more as patients.  PageantDoc is my hope that if I can use my professional expertise along with pageant experience and a bit of help from all of you, we can make these numbers drop.

Pageant contestants have a natural drive to succeed and lead the world in a positive direction.  With poise, education and articulation, they maybe our "secret" to making this happen but we have yet to unveil their potential.  I am now prepared to teach emotional wellness and then take it one step further by training to teach others.  My mission is to create educators not just teach students.  Once I have your continued support, I know we can do this.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could show another side of pageantry to this world?  A side that advocates that the first line of treatment should be prevention and education of these illnesses.  Wouldn't it be great to go down in history as the industry that made it all happen?  Wouldn't it be phenomenal if through this medium of education we could decrease the number of teens and young adults suffering from psychiatric problems?  If it's worth dreaming, it's defnitely worth achieving!  And I won't stop dreaming until it is!

In conclusion, I would like to share my awareness of this being a fairly unique approach and some will doubt or question which is absolutely fine.   Some people are doers and some are doubters and we are all entitled to a choice.  I just choose to do rather than doubt.  I have passion, dedication and a genuine desire to educate because I care about our youth.  Most of all, I believe we can achieve...and we will!

I have shared our dream for society and now I am presenting you with PageantDoc, doers please "do" send us your comments and feedback so we may begin the wellness education for our royalty.  Together we will educate today's princess in becoming tomorrow's wellness queen.

I thank you for taking the time to read this.

Gratefully yours,
Vidushi Babber, M.D.
